Blue Ink??

Ok, this is a question I've been meaning for a while to post to other Russia PAP's. On your dossier paperwork, are you required to have everything signed in BLUE INK?

I've not heard this detail in the "conversations" others have shared on their blogs.

The reason this concerns me is that we're still waiting for our Rental Letter for the dossier from the people who own the mobile home we're renting while our new house is being built. I forgot to tell her to sign and have it notarized in blue ink. I'm thinking we'll just let it slide, but if I hear from others of you who have heard this Blue ink rule too, I'll call her and ask her to re-do it. Ugh.

Ok, so BLUE INK or not BLUE INK? That is the question.

***WOW, thanks for so many responses. Although varied, I think erring on the side of blueness is still for the best. The letter had not yet been done by the people who own the house we're renting (the husband had mislaid it.) So, I gave all new instructions with much emphasis on blue ink. Hopefully I'll be able to send the dossier to Austin on Monday. You think FedEx will run on MLK day?

We personally signed all of our documents in blue ink, but I didn't issue that request to others signing outside documents. We didn't have any issues with it.

Never heard of needing to use blue ink. Most of our docs were in black.Best Wishes!

The reason they want things signed in blue ink is so that they can more readily see that it is an original signature and not a photocopy. I think the theory is seriously flawed. But, as you know, when adopting internationally you have to play by their rules. I think we signed everything in blue, but I'm not positive that one or more did not slip by in black. I don't think it is a major problem, but that decision will be up to your agency or more importantly the regional officials who review your dossier. If they are not too picky then it should get by.

Been thinking about you, it sounds like things are going well with the house - you sound very excited about that. And soon, it will be ready for you to bring home your new daughter!

We had a mixture, some blue, some black. Our dossier is in Moscow right now being translated, and no one mentioned it. I haven't heard of anyone having a problem.

I think most of ours were signed in black. I considered using blue - for the reason Kay outlined - but usually ended up forgetting before I signed.

I think you will rest better if you call them and ask them to sign it in blue. While also checking up to see when you'll get it...

I have never heard of such a crazy thing as only blue ink. We had blue, black and red!

Maybe the judge in your region is super picky...

Anyway, when it comes to adoption, if they say blue ink, blue ink it should be!

We have both blue and black ink. Not a big deal with any of our previous adoptions either. :)

Most of our documents were blue, but we did have one thing signed in black. Our agency said it was OK, just harder to "show" that it's an original.
